Hello Connection Members & Friends,

We’re excited to announce the theme for May Mental Health Awareness Month: Wellness Through Connection.

This year, we’re partnering with The Hmong American Partnership, the Multicultural Coalition, NEW HMong, NAMI Fox Valley, and People of Progression to launch a community-wide, all-ages Connection BINGO Challenge. The goal is simple: help people build meaningful connections in everyday ways, while lifting up the powerful link between belonging, community support, and mental health.

Throughout May, participants will be invited to complete activities on a BINGO card designed to spark connection. These are small, intentional actions, like checking in on a neighbor, attending a local event, volunteering, sharing a meal, or reaching out to someone you haven’t talked to in a while. Participants can complete a row, or aim for a full card, and submit entries for a chance to win prizes at the end of the month.

This campaign is one way we’re bringing Connected Fox Valley to life, turning ideas into action and creating more opportunities for people to connect across our communities. We invite you to explore the initiative, learn more about the work, and find ways to get involved at ConnectedFoxValley.org.

To kick off Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re moving our May Member Meeting to a special in-person breakfast on Monday, May 4, from 9:00–10:00 a.m. at Miron Construction, 1471 McMahon Drive, Neenah.

At the breakfast, we will:

  • Share the Connection BINGO cards (print and digital)
  • Walk through how to participate and track progress
  • Explain how to enter the end-of-month raffle
  • Provide a ready-to-use social media toolkit to help your organization promote the campaign

We hope you’ll join us and help spread the message of connection throughout May. Please RSVP here for the May 4 breakfast event!

Since this will serve as our May Member Meeting, please remove the May 14 meeting from your calendar.

Looking ahead, we also invite you to continue the conversation later in the month.

Save the Date: May 21
We will gather on May 21 from 7:30–8:30 a.m. for a panel discussion featuring the Tri-County Community Health Improvement Coalition. This discussion will highlight the newly released Tri-County Community Health Assessment and what comes next. Seats will be limited, with early registration for Connection Members. Location will be announced soon. Stay tuned!

New Report: Project Zero Adult Suicide Death Review (2022–2025)

Through our Project Zero: Every One Matters initiative, The Connection has released the Tri-County Adult Suicide Death Review Summary Report (2022–2025).

This report reflects a collaborative regional effort across Calumet, Outagamie, and Winnebago counties to better understand suicide deaths and strengthen prevention. It includes local data, key findings from multidisciplinary case reviews, and recommendations to improve systems, close service gaps, and ultimately save lives.

Lindsey DeVries, The Connection’s Community Suicide Prevention Coordinator and report author, introduced the report at our March Member Meeting.

Join the Outreach Learning Community!

We’re continuing to build momentum around the Outreach Learning Community, relaunched in response to member feedback.

This group creates space for outreach specialists, social workers, and intake and discharge staff to connect, share knowledge, and learn about the wide range of mental health resources available across our region, including how to make effective referrals.

The Outreach Learning Community originally met in person prior to the pandemic and was facilitated by Rogers Behavioral Health. We’re excited to bring this network back and support stronger connections across systems of care.

Interested in joining or learning more? Please reach out to Jody Richter at Rogers Behavioral Health at Jody.Richter@rogersbh.org

Membership Pop-Up Group: Help Shape What’s Next

We’re convening a short-term Membership Pop-Up Group to help strengthen and refine the value of Connection membership.

This small taskforce will focus on shaping new and enhanced member benefits to ensure they are meaningful, aligned, and responsive to member needs. The group will meet up to four times, with in-person participation encouraged (Zoom available as needed).

The first meeting is scheduled for April 6.
