Hello Connection Members & Friends,

Hello Connection Members and Friends,

Summer is in full swing as we enter July, and I hope you're finding time to slow down, enjoy the longer days and take advantage of everything the season has to offer. Family camping, hiking, kayaking and taking in a few baseball games have been an important part of maintaining my own mental health and filling my cup. I hope the summer has been off to a great start for all of you as well!

We have some bittersweet news to share. Lindsey DeVries, our Community Suicide Prevention Coordinator, has accepted a new opportunity, and while we'll certainly miss her, we're excited for this next chapter in her career. We are deeply grateful for Lindsey's leadership and dedication to Project Zero. During her time with The Connection, she has worked alongside countless community partners to strengthen suicide prevention efforts across our region. Lindsey approached every aspect of her work with professionalism, compassion and grace, building trusted relationships and bringing people together around a shared commitment to preventing suicide. We thank her for everything she has contributed and wish her the best.

While Lindsey's role is changing, our commitment is not. Project Zero work will continue through 2026 as we explore long-term sustainability for these important initiatives, and The Connection remains dedicated to advancing suicide prevention across Northeast Wisconsin.

One way we're building on that work is through our new Preventing Deaths of Despair training series, which begins this September. The series grew directly from what we've learned through our fatality review work and explores the complex factors that contribute to suicide, overdose and alcohol-related deaths. We've recently added featured speaker profiles to our website, and I encourage you to take a look and consider joining us this fall.

I hope you'll also join us for our July 9 member meeting. Here's what's on the agenda:

  • Agency Spotlight: Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay
Learn about the services and programs offered through Catholic Charities.

  • Project Zero Updates
Hear the latest on our suicide prevention initiatives, including Adult Suicide Death Review, the Mind Your Wellness Survey and plans for sustaining this work into the future.

  • Understanding Deaths of Despair
Get a preview of our upcoming Preventing Deaths of Despair training series as we explore the underlying factors that contribute to suicide, overdose and alcohol-related deaths, and discuss how this new educational series came to be.

  • Mental Health Resource Navigation Evolving
Learn about our plans to improve mental health resource navigation as we join forces with United Way Fox Cities 211 to create a more streamlined online experience.

I look forward to seeing many of you on July 9!

Introducing Fox Valley Shares: Building Community Through Mutual Aid and Time Banking

Fox Valley Shares

A new initiative is taking shape to make it easier for people to ask for and receive help while building stronger connections across the Fox Valley. Fox Valley Shares is a new community time bank and mutual aid network being developed by a volunteer work group with support from Ebb & Flow Connections Cooperative and The Connection.

Fox Valley Shares is being built to help neighbors connect with one another to exchange skills, services and support. Whether it's offering a ride, helping with yard work or simply spending time with someone who needs companionship, every exchange helps strengthen community.

Now in its pilot phase, Fox Valley Shares is looking for community members to help shape its future. Fox Valley Shares is being built by the community, for the community, and is recruiting volunteers to help guide its leadership, outreach, member support and launch activities.

Here's how you can get involved:

  • Take the Fox Valley Shares Community Survey and help inform the project's development.
  • Interested in joining a planning group? Reach out to the Time Bank team at foxvalleyshares@gmail.com
