The Right Person at the Right Time: Co-Responder Programs in Outagamie County

The November 2024 issue of Wisconsin Counties magazine features an article on Outagamie County’s co-responder model, which pairs a mental health professional with law enforcement officers to provide trauma-informed care when officers respond to mental health crisis calls. The co-responder initiative and subsequent pilot program, which became embedded and sustained in Outagamie County, was spearheaded by Sarah Bassing-Sutton, The Connection’s suicide prevention specialist.
