The goals of our local initiative are to bring the philosophy, training, and toolkit of Zero Suicide to the tri-county area in order to improve services to those who have attempted suicide. The workgroup also seeks to address the high-risk groups, including 45-64 year old white males, LGBTQ youth, and juvenile justice-involved youth.
The zero suicide philosophy, simply stated, is this: there is no acceptable number of suicides except zero. With a commitment to suicide prevention in health and behavioral health care systems, we use the tools and resources made available by the Suicide Prevention Resource Center.
